    The WA Athletics Stadium was opened in 2009 to replace the ageing Perry Lakes Stadium.

    It hosted the 2010 Australian Championships and host often hosted a significant a domestic series meet each season.

    The track surface is Mondo and was last resurfaced in 2023.

    The track is managed by Venues West and is available for use from 6am to 9pm every day of the week, except when the venue is exclusively booked.

    The venue was due to host the 2022 Australian Championships, but the event was instead relocated to the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre due to the Western Australian government maintaining a closed border as a COVID-19 control measure. The 2023 Australian All Schools Championships will instead be held at the venue.
