The Australian Athletics Championships will be held in Perth from 5-13 April 2025.
The meet covers open age events as well as all junior events from Under 13 through to Under 20.
The meet accrues Category A points for World Athletics Rankings in the open events.
Entry to the meet is open to athletes who better the qualifying standard set annually by Athletics Australia.
The 2025 Australian Championships will be the 102nd edition of the event, which dates back to 1890 for men and 1931 for women. The event was held intermittently until the completion of World War II, with it being held annually since 1946-47 (with the exception of 2019-20, due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The 100th edition of the meet was held in Brisbane in 2023. The Championships were last held in Perth in 2010.
The men’s and women’s championships were held separately, in different locations, until the Olympic selection years of 1972 and 1976, and as a single event since 1978.
Junior events have been held since 1958 (women, Under 18) and 1963 (men, Under 19), with the age group categorised to Under 20 from 1983.
The meet has been held in all states of Australia throughout its history, with the Queensland Sport & Athletics Centre being the venue that has held the most editions of the event (12 occasions).
Detailed historical results are maintained on the Possumbility website.
The draft timetable is now available (at 25 September 2024).
