The Victorian Milers Club was founded in 2005 and runs a series of middle distance meets in Melbourne each year. The club is modelled on the British Milers Club. ES Marks Athletics Field was originally named Sydney Athletics Field, with the track being constructed in 1906. It was renamed in the 1940s after former Lord Mayor of Sydney and leading athletics administrator, Ernest Samuel Marks.
