The venue is named after respected athletics coach Tom Kelly, who was tragically killed in a hit and run accident in 2014 at the age of 80. The Sprint Athletics Centre is located in northern Melbourne suburb of Craigieburn. The track was opened in 2017 and is located in Craigieburn ANZAC Park which also contains Splash Aqua Park and Leisure Centre and  Craigieburn War Memorial. The George Knott Reserve is located in Clifton Hill in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs. The six lane track is named after the former Mayor of the City of Collingwood, who represented Australia in the 10,000m walk at the 1948 Olympics. The track was resurfaced in 2018.
