A new stadium is set to be built to host the athletics for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games, located in Victoria Park.
Announced by the Queensland Government on 25 March following a 100 day review undertaken by the Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority the new stadium replaces prior plans that the Games would be held at a refurbished Queensland Sport & Athletics Centre, which with a planned 20,000 spectator capacity would have been the smallest Olympic stadium in over a century.
The new stadium will have seating for 63,000 spectators and is located in the Brisbane CBD. The athletics track will be removed post Olympics for the venue to be used by AFL and cricket, replacing The Gabba as Brisbane’s main venue.
