Blacktown International Sports Park Athletics Centre was opened in 2000 as a training venue for international teams prior to the Olympic Games.
The track is a Mondo surface – the only in NSW – and is managed by Blacktown Sports Park, on behalf of Blacktown Council. It was last resurfaced in 2023, with the colour changing from red to the current blue.
In addition to hosting interclub level competition, Athletics NSW has in the past used the venue for the NSW Relay Championships.
The venue is usually open for training between 4pm and 10pm, Monday to Friday. It has lighting sufficient for training purposes, but not for broadcast.
The venue was the site of filming of the athletics scenes in the movie Unbroken, which was directed by Angelina Jolie and chronicles the life of US Olympian Louie Zamperini.
