The State Athletics Facility was built as the warm up track for the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre – Main Stadium, which hosted the 1982 Commonwealth Games. The UQ Sport Athletics Centre is located at the University of Queensland’s St Lucia campus. The venue was opened in 1998. The track was last resurfaced in 2011, following damage caused by flooding.
