Elite athletics is returning to the Apple Isle with the Hobart Track Classic, set for Saturday, 28 February at Domain Athletics Centre.
Back on the national calendar for the first time since 2016 when the Briggs Athletics Classic was last held, and occurring as a result of the cancellation of the Sydney Track Classic, the meet will be staged as a World Athletics Continental Tour – Bronze level event, giving athletes the opportunity to earn world ranking points, prize money and valuable selection performances ahead of major international championships.
Fans can expect a showcase of Australia’s best athletes, including Olympians, Paralympians, rising stars and local Tasmanian talent, all competing under lights in a high-energy one-night program.
With upgraded facilities and renewed status, the Hobart Track Classic marks a major once-in-a-decade moment for athletics in Tasmania: bringing world-class competition back to Hobart and giving fans the chance to see the sport’s biggest names live.
The meet is conducted by Australian Athletics.
