    The Capital Athletics (ACT Championships) are held at the AIS over the Australia Day long weekend.

    The venue is one of Australia’s favourite tracks for sprinters and jumpers.

    The meet is conducted by Capital Athletics and sees a large number of interstate athletes travelling to Canberra.

      AIS Track and Field Centre

      The AIS Track and Field Centre is Canberra’s main athletics venue. The venue was originally constructed in 1985 as the warm up venue for the IAAF World Cup Athletics meet, which was held at the adjacent Bruce Stadium.
