The Adelaide Invitational is a World Athletics Continental Tour – Challenger meet accrues Category D ranking points for World Athletics Rankings. The one-day meet has been held annually since 2022 as part of Australian Athletics’s high performance circuit. Prior to this, Adelaide had regularly held similar meets through to the 2014 season. The NSW Open Championships date back to 1888 and are the oldest athletics championship event in Australia. Women’s state championshis were first held in 1926, and then regularly from 1932 under the auspices of the NSW Women’s Athletics Association. The Campbelltown Athletics Centre was built in 1999 as a training track for international teams prior to the 2000 Olympic Games. Holsworthy Army Barracks Physical Fitness Facility features a four lane synthetic track approximately 580m in length. The track was installed in 2015 as part of an upgrade to the physical fitness facilities at the base. The venue is not available for public use. Dwyer Oval is located at Warwick Farm in Sydney’s western suburbs. The venue features a grass athletics track with three synthetic grass long jump runways. During the athletics off-season it is used for Rugby Union. The venue is managed by Liverpool City Council. Read more…
